Now that ENDGAMES has ended, the producers needed help with a shot for their new show titled the PREGAMES. Peter, Galen, and I worked together to put the photo together and Peter worked on the text. Special thanks to our models Galen, Regina, Mikey, and Hannah
If you look carefully you can find my phone number and a monopoly piece hidden in the poster. Can you tell what it is?

Of course since I’ve been dabbling in the comedy scene within SF, I’ve gotten a chance to take some photos of some very funny comedians in here. One very funny, talented, and very well known person in the SF comedy scene is a guy I’ve met named Sammy Wegent. He does stand up, improv, sketch, he hosts various shows around the city, and he was one of the instructors for my improv class. Definitely go check him out if you get a chance. I think right now you’ll most likely see him hosting an ongoing SFCC show called the UPPERCUT!
This was a photoshoot we did back in May using multiple locations around SF. We ended up doing another shoot about a month or two later, but I’ll post those pics at another time.

Sorry it’s been a while! I’ve been really busy with trying out other things in life for a while, but don’t worry, I’ve still been taking photos! I just haven’t gotten a chance to post any…
One of the activities that’s been keeping me really busy (besides my day job) is improv. About 10 months ago I started taking a couple of intro improv classes because my friend Peter had been doing it for almost a year and he seemed to be having a lot of fun doing it. He was really passionate about it so I thought I’d see what all the hype was about and help support his craft. Needless to say it was an awesome experience that has helped open my eyes to the way I view people, relationships, and the way we interact with one another. I could talk a lot about improv, but that would probably take up another blog. Instead, here’s a photo I took that was used for the poster promos for Peter’s new show. A lot of you who are seeing this page right now probably came here because of a link from this show blasts.
If you’re in the SF area and you are free one of these upcoming Thursday nights, I highly recommend checking out this bay area improv competition. It’s kind of like American Idol, but the singing can be a hell of a lot funnier! Oh, and the winning troupe of this competition will get the stage for 4 weeks for their own show, AND a photoshoot from yours truly. Please feel free to share this event with your friends:

My troupe was in the competition, but we just got knocked out last week =( hence, more time to dedicate back to photography =)

Yesterday on my way to the Bruno Mars/Brown Eyed Girl/T-pain concert I saw three kids skating behind the Bill Graham over a railing they found.

I went back to Michigan last weekend to see my sister graduate and to hear President Obama give their commencement speech. His speech was alright, but that didn’t matter to me cuz I got to take some pix (you can check out on my facebook). While I was home, I got to do an impromptu photoshoot with my uncle, sisters, and cousins:

Just picked up the 5d mkii last week along w/ a 16-35 lens. I’ve been playing around with it here and there but haven’t gotten a chance to update this blog in a while.
Here are some photos from this past weekend. Reg and I went to the NASA Ames Research Center to check out Yuri’s Night. It was this world wide concert/ science event to commemorate Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space. There was a huge science fair, musical performers, air shows, and some crazy art. Some of the performances included N.E.R.D., Common, Black Keys, DJ Q-bert, and Les Claypool.
SCIENCE!!!

This assignment was an interesting one. We were supposed to find any image (photo/painting/drawing etc.) in which we liked the light and allow that to inspire us to recreate the light in studio, capturing the subject of our choice. I flipped through random photos on flickr and just picked whatever photo I thought had interesting light. The first photo below is NOT my picture, but it is the picture I found on flickr which was supposed to “inspire” me. I liked the photo because I liked the warm colors, reflection of the water, and the soft feeling from the fog. The 2nd picture below is the one I did take trying to emulate that light.
Comments?
Again, this first photo is NOT mine, but thanks to ouldm01 on Flickr for taking the photo and giving me some inspiration for my shot. They have a lot of other great landscape/nature photos on their flickr if you’d like to see more:

This is my reinterpretation of light from that photo, created with studio lighting:

Here’s a photoshoot I did a few weeks ago to fulfill a class assignment where I was to work in a group of 3 and produce a photo as if it were a professional shoot. For this particular shoot I acted as the artistic director, and my two classmates acted as photographer and assistant. This assignment also served another purpose as it was a shoot for a press kit for a comedy duo from the same comedy college my friend Peter is a part of. They are a comedy “couple” that have an interesting relationship and have a performance based on that relationship. They described their type of comedy as being similar to the comedy couples of the 50′s, and so they wanted some photos for their press kit to resemble those comedy duos of the past. They are performing this Friday December 4th. You can find more information on them at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/90805
Let me know which ones are you faves.
Art Director: Irwin Tran
Photography: Michael Nero
Assistant: John Wooster
Models: Sammy Wegent and Allison Page

Some of you may have seen some of these pix before. It’s from a shoot I did for Peter’s improv troup, FRISCO. Congratulations to Peter for making it through auditions and beginning a new phase in his comedy career, and thanks to him for getting me this gig! These are just a couple of shots that the needed for their press kit. Let me know what you think!
Oh yeah, here’s their website where they posted some of the other pix too. Go check them out at one of their shows if you’re ever in SF!
